LEXICAL-SEMANTIC FEATURES OF PROVERBS ABOUT GOOD AND EVIL IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH: UNIVERSAL AND NATIONALLY-SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract
The article explores the lexical and semantic aspects of Uzbek and English proverbs related to the theme of morality, analyzing the notions of good and evil. The study shows that despite the fact that the proverbial wisdom of both languages and cultures is based on the same moral principles, they still express these values through different means, such as choice of words, metaphorical contexts, and cultural allusions, which are all indicative of their particular historical, social, and philosophical backgrounds.
