ANALYSIS OF THE TOXICITY OF CHEMICALS ASSOCIATED WITH CHROME-COATED LEATHER WASTE
Abstract
This article provides an in-depth analysis of the chemical toxic properties of chromium-coated waste from leather production, their impact on the environment and human health. In particular, the degree of toxicity, biological and environmental hazard of chromium at different oxidation states (Cr (III) and Cr (VI)), as well as methods for their neutralization, were considered. Technological approaches to the reduction of Cr (VI) to Cr (III), including reagent, electrocoagulation, roasting, sorption, ion exchange, and electrochemical purification, are presented in patent examples. The economic and technological advantages of neutralizing chromium waste by processing and converting it into a useful product are substantiated. The research results serve as an important scientific and practical basis for environmentally safe management of chromium-containing waste.
