DEVELOPING INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE IN STUDENTS: A KEY TO GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP
Abstract
This article explores the importance of developing intercultural competence among students in the context of globalization and increasing cultural diversity. It highlights the key components of intercultural competence, including knowledge of other cultures, openness, empathy, and effective communication skills. The article discusses how educational institutions can play a vital role by integrating cultural content into the curriculum, encouraging student exchanges, and promoting inclusive classroom environments. It also emphasizes the long-term benefits of intercultural competence in both academic and professional spheres, arguing that globally aware students are better prepared for future challenges. The article concludes that fostering intercultural competence is essential for shaping responsible, respectful, and globally engaged citizens.
