THE MAIN FEATURES OF LEXICAL ECONOMY THROUGH STYLISTIC DEVICES IN “THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES” BY RAY BRADBURY
Abstract
Lexical economy refers to the efficient use of language to convey maximum meaning with minimal linguistic effort. This study explores how lexical economy is expressed through stylistic devices in English and Uzbek, using The Martian Chronicles as a primary text. The research focuses on devices such as ellipsis, metaphor, metonymy, and symbolism, analyzing how they compress meaning while maintaining expressive depth. A comparative approach highlights similarities and differences between English and Uzbek linguistic structures in achieving brevity and stylistic richness. The findings demonstrate that lexical economy is not merely a linguistic phenomenon but also a cultural and stylistic strategy that enhances narrative impact.
