Abstract

This article explores the current condition and future prospects of pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan, focusing on the role of historical cities such as Bukhara, Samarkand, and Termez. As a country with deep Islamic roots, Uzbekistan holds significant potential to become one of the world’s leading destinations for religious and spiritual tourism. The paper highlights government strategies, infrastructure improvements, community engagement, and the impact of pilgrimage tourism on regional economies. Moreover, it identifies challenges such as limited marketing, insufficient guide training, and uneven distribution of tourist flows. The study concludes with recommendations for developing a sustainable and competitive pilgrimage tourism industry that preserves Uzbekistan’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
