THE IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL GEODETIC HEIGHT NETWORKS
Abstract
The national geodetic height network forms the foundation for the accurate determination of elevations and heights across a country’s territory. It serves as a reference system for various fields such as topographic mapping, civil engineering, construction, hydrology, land management, and environmental monitoring. A unified and precise geodetic height system ensures the consistency of all geospatial data used in national development projects. Moreover, it plays a vital role in scientific research related to Earth’s shape, gravity field, and geodynamic processes. Establishing and maintaining such a network strengthens the country’s geospatial infrastructure and supports sustainable economic and environmental development.
