Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive scientific analysis of the pressing issues related to enhancing media literacy in libraries and information centers. In the digital era, the rise of disinformation, fake news, and manipulation has made libraries not only repositories of information but also key institutions for fostering critical thinking, information evaluation, and digital safety skills. The article discusses challenges such as resource scarcity, the lack of tailored programs for diverse user groups, emerging threats from artificial intelligence and deepfake technologies, and gender and social inequalities. In the context of Uzbekistan, solutions are proposed through national policies (including presidential decrees and laws), international cooperation (UNESCO principles and projects), and empirical research. Ultimately, libraries and information centers are evaluated as strategic hubs ensuring societal digital security and social stability, requiring continuous monitoring and innovative approaches.
