STAGES OF LANGUAGE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN THE CLIL APPROACH.
Abstract
This article examines the phases of language skill development during the teaching of a foreign language, specifically English, in a manner that is integrated with subject matter and guided by the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology. The author examines how listening comprehension, reading, writing, and speaking skills gradually develop within the CLIL approach and highlights the influence of subject matter (using the IT field as an example) in this progression. The piece also addresses the methodological prerequisites for successfully implementing language and content integration, including the teacher’s role, the choice of materials, and the evaluation standards. The article provides theoretical and practical foundations intended to enhance the efficacy of teaching English through subjects by delineating the stages of language skill development according to the CLIL methodology.
